A pair of golf matches involving members of the South Knox girls golf team were lost to bad weather Friday and Saturday. The Spartans had been scheduled to play in a match at the Oakland City Golf Club Friday, but heavy rain kept the five teams from beginning their rounds.

This last Thursday something new happened at the Elks Country Club. Four South Knox High School students competed as a team in a four-team golf match. What's new about it is that they were girls.

The British Open returns to St. Andrews, Scotland, this year. It was the 27th time the oldest of the major championships returned to the Old Course. Someday I would like to also return to the Old Course. If I do, it would be for a second time and maybe, just maybe, I will be ready for it.
