A 2-year-old boy died of a gunshot wound to his head after a home invasion late Wednesday, authorities said. The boy's father, Ray Anthony Paylor, 27, was shot in the abdomen and underwent surgery Wednesday night at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. He was in critical but stable condition Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
